Who are you?

I love teaching, especially on topics that I feel don’t get covered nearly enough in traditional graduate/professional programs.

I also have several chronic, unpredictable illnesses. I didn’t want my illnesses to get in the way of teaching, so I decided to start offering classes for free.

I have to cancel last minute? No problem. it was free anyway.

Someone doesn’t like my topic, my approach, my teaching style, or my face? No problem. All refunds are given proactively, courtesy of “it’s free.”

These classes are 100% a passion project.

The stakes are low enough that I don’t have to be anyone else’s version of acceptable. I pick the topic, make the design, and share a perspective that’s 100% me.

I hope to see you at a class soon!

Tell me about your work as a therapist.

Vered Counseling specializes in providing therapy to adolescents and young adults. I work primarily with transgender youth and their families.

I specialize in what are called “complex” situations - basically when multiple things are going on.

I see patients who are neurodivergent and often struggle with suicidal thoughts, eating issues like ARFID, and self-harm.

I also work with people who have chronic health issues, such as Long Covid.

I like to say “I’m the second person people call.”

The first call is to a hospital or another therapist. When patients or families later realize that they need an expert, they reach out to me.

supervision for Texas LMSWs on the road to LCSW licensure.

I also do a lot of media interviews and get fancy awards, but I am not great about keeping a media/accolades page up-to-date. I have twice given USA Today takes on Taylor Swift, leading me to brag to all the teens that I’m USA Today’s official Taylor Swift commentator. They - astutely - don’t believe me.

What do you offer professionals?

I am a LCSW-S in Texas, which means I provide supervision for Texas LMSWs on the road to LCSW licensure.

I provide in-house training for organizations, schools, and medical centers.

I lecture at schools and assemblies, as well as national and international conferences.

I am a frequent media commentator and have helped with pre-production for larger documentary-style pieces.

Important note on AI

AI is garbage.

My work is zero percent AI.

If you’re a therapist who is considering using AI, please don’t.

Honest and imperfect beats soulless and empty every time.

Also, AI can be actively dangerous to people predisposed to certain issues. AI also makes a terrible substitute for therapy.
